Holy shit balls, can you believe tomorrow is September?! How did this happen?! It feels like yesterday it was the end of May, we were doing the first post for The Style Report, and Summer was about to begin.
Although it’s always sad to see it go, and this was truly one for the books, I happen to love Fall THE MOST and can’t express enough how much I enjoy Fall style. We’re about to get into the good stuff here folks.
We’re going to kick things off with jeans, the most classic piece of clothing any of us can have in our closets.
As you know this is all about classics, those articles of clothing that can be worn in almost any situation - the work horses. A great pair of denim is just that, and the ultimate canvas for accessories. You can literally wear the same pair of jeans five days in a row, and with the right accompaniments, no one would think anything of it.
The perfect pair of jeans should take you just about anywhere you want to go and work hard for you in the process. Giddy up.
Ps - Anyone who knows me well knows I love cooking, so as I’m sure you can see we decided to combine my love for classic style and making yummy things during the shoot for this post. If you enjoy baking and blueberries then I suggest you try your hand at the recipe for these Blueberry Hand Pies - they were delish.
Listen, there are lots of blogs and magazines out there that are going to tell you what style of denim is “in” right now and that if you aren’t rocking them in your wardrobe then you’re so 2014. I’m here to tell you that’s bullshit.
I don’t care who you are or what body type you have, skinny jeans are the most versatile and flattering style of denim available and you should own at least one pair.
It’s a modern and incredibly classic cut, so you’ll never look dated, and you can pair them with a broad range of styles of tops and shoes/boots, which will lessen the chance that you ever end up looking or feeling frumpy. They are the ultimate grab and go bottoms and my suggestion would be to take the time to find the brand that suits you best, and then buy them in every colour, or at the very least in black and dark blue.
I’m sure you’ve all experienced jeans shopping as a horrific experience at some point in your life, I know I have. However, as I mentioned above taking the time and putting in the work to find the right brand for your body is, ultimately, worth it.
Here are my suggestions:
- Old Navy - Rockstar
- American Eagle - Hi-Rise Jegging: I know they're jeggings, which may not jive for everyone, but this is what I wear (and am wearing in the pics) and I love them.
- Lucky Brand - Bridgette Skinny
PS - I just gotta say, I'm REALLY excited for this.
And the winner is…
Lacey J. Heels - congratulations, girl! A huge thank you to you if you were one of the people who took the time to fill out the survey I sent out. I read every single one and took your comments to heart. I hope you will continue to read and engage with The Style Report as we work on it, improve it, and introduce new pieces of content.
Quick note! - I heard from some survey takers that accessories are important and more discussion around them is wanted. I love this. I've started in this post with a more visual focus to show you how I've built my outfits but wanted to let you all know that I heard you and this is going to be something we tackle more closely in future Reports.
I have some super fun ideas I’m beginning to explore as we look at what other content we can create - can’t wait to keep sharing everything I believe about clothing, style, and getting dressed every morning with you!
